Cold Coffee, Warm Memory

I reach for something already gone and hold it anyway.
The taste is bitter, but it stays,
Like the thought of you at dawn.
Cold coffee, warm memory, is how I keep you warm.
I still make 2 cups out of habit,
Then stare at the second one.
It sits there,
Cooling by the window while the clock keeps moving on.
