THE ROAD MADE ME

Every lesson bought.
The road made me.
Not the easy days, not the lucky breaks,
Just the price I paid.
That's the man I am today.
I watched the sun rise through a dusty windshield.
Heard old tires singing on roads that never heal.
Some folks kept on talking, some never stayed around.
But every empty highway left my feet on solid ground.
You can call it stubborn, you can call it pride.
I just kept on driving, one more mile at a time.
