Family roots

I grew up in a little house with walls of wood and stone,
Where Mama made the dinner and Daddy fixed the bones.
The porch was old and creaky,
But it held us through the years.
We shared our joys and sorrows,
We shared our hopes and fears.
My brothers ran like wild horses, my sisters sang so sweet.
Grandmother told us stories, Grandfather moved his feet.
We didn't have much money, but we never felt the lack,
Because love was overflowing and we never looked back.
Family is the roots that hold me to the ground.
