I Used to Roll My Eyes

Now I'm living it.
Maybe wisdom looks like weakness from the outside looking in.
Maybe peace feels like surrender before you know what fighting wins.
I'm not ashamed,
Just surprised how naturally I've changed my mind.
I used to roll my eyes at this,
At playing safe and sailing in, at choosing quiet over wire,
At leaving early with a smile.
Now I'm the punchline of the joke,
The cautious man I used to mock.
I used to roll my eyes at this.
Now I'm living it.
