Pouring Their Dreams

They think I'm here because I have to be,
But I'm building something they can't see.
I'm pouring their dreams while I'm saving mine; every glass I fill,
Every bottle time.
They don't know the ground I'm claiming,
Slow; I'm pouring their dreams, but I'm running my own show.
They leave their cars on marble tiles; I take their orders,
Play my part.
But when the shift is finally done,
I'm closer to my own fresh start.
They see a face behind the bar,
Don't know how far I've come, how far.
