Hold My Hand A Little While

As if you might come back for me.
Stay till the kettle loses steam,
Stay till the room forgets to dream.
No need to promise what you can't, just hold my hand,
A little while.
The clock keeps turning, slow and kind,
Your quiet laugh comes back to mind.
A taxi turns beyond the square, then leaves the wet street,
Empty there.
