To My Grandson

Will hold your hand tonight.
And if one day life breaks your heart,
As life sometimes can do, remember God can rebuild anything.
He rebuilt me through you.
One day you'll hear the stories about mistakes I've made,
How I lost myself in sorrow after your grandma passed away.
But I hope you'll also hear this, God's mercy never ends.
Sometimes He sends a grandchild to bring the family whole again.
Sleep, my little grandson, while grandpa watches you.
The greatest gift God gave me wasn't something new.
