Sugar Spill

One more round and the whole world pops.
Dead battery buzz, then your smile cuts through.
Sugar on the table, and I lean into you.
Café dates, café dates, we break and we make.
Café dates, café dates, your name in the cake.
Sip, crash, repeat, my heart on the tray.
Café dates, café dates, don't blink, stay.
Menu board flickers, your hand finds mine.
Cold paper, napkin warm, little sign.
