Spaces You Left

Trying to remember what comes next.
The silence fits where laughter used to grow.
I'm standing in the spaces you left,
Learning what I never wanted to know.
How wide an apartment can that go?
The bathroom lights too bright at night.
Your mirror's just a square of white.
I find myself avoiding where you kept your things,
You closed your chair.
The bedroom door's been open all week long.
I haven't figured out where I belong.
