Silver Around Her Throat

I saw you both outside the place we used to go.
She turned her head and caught the light, just so.
That chain you gave me on my birthday last July.
Now it rests against a collarbone; I don't know why.
You said it meant forever when you put it on.
You said it was for me alone.
Silver 'round her throat, the one you swore I'd always owe.
Guess promises are just words you throw.
Silver 'round her throat.
I'm watching what I thought was mine.
It caught a lie I can't rewind.
